Context Statement

Mitcham Girls High School is the only state school that provides single sex schooling for girls. It became a girls only high school in the early 1970s following many years as a girls technical high school and, before that, a coeducational site incorporating Unley High School.

Mitcham has a student population of approximately 600 girls in Years 8 - 13. As an unzoned school, students travel from across the metropolitan area to enjoy the benefits of the broad curriculum offerings and teaching strategies that cater specifically for the development and interests of girls. Research tells us that girls are more successful and confident in a girls' school; our goal is to nurture the unique talents, personality and ambitions, which every girl brings to Mitcham Girls High.
